Feb 11, 2016 · Around 12 months ago I had my gearbox reconditioned and my actuator changed. Everything has been going fine until now, when I have started having problems with my gearbox again. One minute it would be fine next minute it's stuck in 1st gear, then it's fine again then I get gearbox fault and nothing works.
I have C4 Grand Picasso 2012 1.6 Auto. This morning my dash displayed "Gearbox Fault: Repair Needed". The symptoms following this message was that when i move the selector to Auto it doesn't auto change the gears. I can select Manual and change but it doesnt shift past 3rd gear. Reverse and Neutral are ok.
Has anyone had any problems with an automatic gear box mine this morning came up with gearbox fault and wouldn’t go in reverse! Went into drive ! The garage said the code reader gave off a sensor
The fault turned out to be a corroded orange wire from F6 above the battery to pin 3 of the 28 way connector on the gearbox ECU. The corroded wire was in the loom behind the battery and appeared to be corroded by battery acid (I'm not sure how) or from water entry into the loom. I believe it's a common fault looking at the forum.
